In 1964, I began painting with Laguna Beach, California artist Vincent Farrell, an acclaimed pupil of Sergei Bongart, a master of Russian Impressionism. “Paint as if you are rich,” Vincent instructed me, loading my brush generously with jeweled toned oil paint. Ever since, I have applied oil to canvas or pastel to paper building up layers rich in bold color.
Today I capture Sedona’s magnificent landscapes in pastels and oils, and I am creating a new body of plein air pastels while traveling with my husband, an acclaimed fine-art photographer. My work has
been exhibited and sold at the Sedona Arts Center, at galleries in Sedona and in greater Phoenix, and at the Tempe Festival of the Arts.
In 2006, I was selected as the featured artist for the Tempe Spring Festival of the Arts, where my
oil painting “Reflections at Red Rock Crossing” appeared on festival posters, banners and collateral.
The original oil painting was purchased by the city of Tempe. Other works in oil and pastel reside in private collections in Florida, Massachusetts, Vermont, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania,
Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and California.
I am a member of the Sedona Arts Center, Arizona Plein Air Artists, and Arizona Pastel
Artists Association. My work regularly appears in their exhibits.
